The start of a new school year brings many challenges, from facing tests to managing homework.
www.kidshealth.com The one‐stop homework help center has tips on everything from getting organized and taking appropriate notes, getting the most from studying and working with teachers. Check it out and start the school year strong!
Learn Quebec is a free online homework help and tutoring service with real classroom teachers. Experienced teachers will be available online during the evenings to help Quebec elementary students in English schools with study and homework. If families have a computer with internet access, their children can benefit from this free program. Please contact your child’s teacher for his/her personal password to Learn Quebec.

For parents who have children in high school, tutors are also available: • Math ‐ all levels • History and Citizenship • Physics and Chemistry • Science and Technology • Français langue seconde • English writing for any course, not just English class.
Reminder: the office is closed from 12h00 to 1h15.

- November 4th: Pedagogical Day – no school for students / unfortunately, no daycare is provided due to lack of registration. Only 6 students were registered. 15 is the magic number!
- November 6th: remember to set your clocks to winter time. One less hour to play or to sleep!
- November 8th: from 11h to 5h30: Pick up your Macmillan’s order.

- November 17th: Northern College presentation to Secondary students
- November 18th: Pizza!
- November 21-23rd: Book Fair
- November 22nd: Parent-teacher Interview, from 4h30 to 6h30.
IN GENERAL – news –
ID cards: Secondary 5 students are currently working on creating ID cards for students at Noranda School. A small fee of $3 will be charged.
Homework club: at elementary, the service is offered again this year to students from grade 2 to grade 6. You will receive documentation with more detailed information soon.

Noranda School (WQSB) received a grant to help and support secondary students with their learning. Currently in organization mode, more information to be sent home, we are aiming for the week of November 7-11 to start!

This year, grad students are working to raise funds to help with the ceremony fees. (Caps and gowns, photographer, decorations for the ceremony, etc.)(Pizza, car wash, yearbook, bake sale, can drive, movie night)

I want to congratulate Ms. Kathleen Brand. Ms. Brand is now a Quebec qualified teacher. She came to Noranda School in 2014 with her Ontario teacher qualifications. She participated in WQ New Teacher Program and attended various workshops. She wrote her Quebec exam in the spring and last month, she finally received her Brevet.
Woot Woot! She is a great asset to our school…
