Queen Elizabeth Elementary School
June Newsletter # 14
Happy New Year! We hope that you enjoyed a restful and happy holiday with your families.
Good News – teachers have signed an agreement in principle – still has to be voted on…but a very good start and would mean no more strike days and trips are back on!
Rocks and Rings
Friday, January 8th – Rocks and Rings are coming to Queen E! - The Capital One Rocks & Rings program is designed to introduce the Olympic sport of curling to elementary school children. By bringing the curling rink to the school gym they reach children that would otherwise not have access to the roaring game. You can see more at: http://rocksandrings.com
Cycle 3 Overnight
Monday, January 18th & Tuesday, January 19th, the cycle 3 will be going on an overnight ski trip. This is part of the outdoor education program with Alan Earwaker.
The class will be practicing to build up their endurance in cross-country skiing, please make sure your child comes to school prepared to be cross country ski every day this week and next week.
Through a Ministry of Education multi-grade allowance, the teachers at Queen E decided to purchase some new cross-country ski equipment. The school now owns 8 full sets (skis, poles, boots), plus 2 extra pair of boots. We will continue to borrow some equipment from Mr. E’s Outdoor Education Program.
