Concours d’Art Oratoire
Congratulations to our students who participated in the Concours d’Art Oratoire that was held at Eardley school on February 22. South Hull was well represented with
Alex St-Germain taking 1st place and Emma Campbell taking 2nd place.
At the Destination Imagination competition, our team, “The Space Eagles”, came in 3rd place for their age-group at the elementary level. They also received a certificate for creativity and risk taking. Congratulations to the team and a job well done!
Our students raised $1,722. Half of the money raised will go to the PGL foundation to help schools in Africa. The other half will go towards our Immersion classes for educational materials and projects. Elijah Brown, Grade 6, will be representing South Hull in the Regional Final that will be held on March 18 at Ecole Rose-des-Vents in Cantley. Thank you to all who participated.
Please be reminded that if your child is in the after school homework club and attends after school daycare, they are to be picked-up at daycare. Thank you.
On February 17, a team of grade 5 and 6 South Hull students participated in the annual WQSB West Volleyball Tournament at Eardley Elementary School. South Hull was well represented….we did a fantastic job and we had a lot of fun! Thank you to Eardley Elementary for organizing this day. Also, thank you to Mr. Brodeur and Mr. Lamarche for putting the teams together. Next up, the WQSB West Quebec Basketball Tournament to be held at Symmes/D’Arcy McGee High School in April.
Music Makers is a concert put on by the Western Quebec School Board featuring musical groups from schools across the Board. This year’s show takes place on Wednesday, April 12 at 5:30 p.m. at the Palais des congrès, 50 boulevard Maisonneuve, Hull, Québec. Mme Hamilton will be directing and accompanying our South Hull choir once again this year. Please visit the site for updates: www.choralelyrica.com/musicmakers
Students should be prepared for all weather types. Spring is just around the corner and the school yard will be “wet”. Please ensure that students are equipped with rubber boots, splash pants and rain coats for the spring. Extra clothing is recommended for all grade levels. Labelling your children’s outerwear and lunch boxes is recommended.
Drop-offs at the Front Door
On occasion, during PD days or other unexpected school closures, some students are dropped off and parents drive away. In the morning, if your children are not attending Daycare or are not taking bus transportation, please accompany your child into school when dropping them off. As well, please ensure that your children are dressed to go outside when dropping them off before the morning bell. Front door drop-off time starts at 7:45 a.m.
Lates, Absences and End-of-day Notices
Please be reminded that it is very important to call in your children’s lates and absences. As well, if you are changing your child’s end-of-day arrangements, notes to the teachers are required on that day – please indicate your child’s full name, teacher’s name and the date.
We understand that there is a lack of parking around the school. Please be reminded that due to limited space, there is no parking in either of the staff parking lots. There is a 15-minute free- zone in front of the school. There is parking on Crescent Drive west of Vanier, on Crescent Drive east of the school, on Oval Drive (inside the Crescent) and on Lynn Street (behind the school). Thank you for your cooperation.
Helpful Information for Parents
Help students get a good night's sleep every night. National Sleep Awareness Week ends with the return to Daylight Saving Time on March 12, when clocks move ahead one hour and too many students lose an hour of sleep. For more information, visit www.kidshealth.org.
